According to the public relations of the Farabi Cinema Foundation, the members of the selection committee, after holding several meetings and selecting the three final candidates, chose the movie "The Night Guardian" directed by Seyed Reza Mirkarimi as the representative of Iran`s cinema at the Oscars 2024.
At the beginning of the final meeting of the selection committee, Majid Zainul Abdin, the managing director of Farabi Cinema Foundation, warmly appreciated the presence of the members and their detailed reviews and hard work, who are all experts of cinema in Iran, said: We reserve the right of artistic efforts of our filmmakers to be present in the world cinema to introduce the professional, technical and content capabilities of Iran`s cinema in the world, and we hope to introduce more of the Iranian taste and attitude to the world through the capacities of cinema.
Referring to the developed capacities of Iran`s cinema after the Islamic Revolution, he thanked all the filmmakers whose works were considered by the selection committee during this period.
Also, Marzieh Broumand, the filmmaker and CEO of Khane Cinema, after expressing her gratitude for the members of the selection committee, said: Although the situation is such that the tendency of filmmakers to make entertaining films has increased, we must Keep in mind that social drama is significant, so it is expected that this kind of cinema will be paid more attention.
In the continuation of this meeting, Raed Faridzadeh, head of the international affairs of Farabi Cinema Foundation and the spokesperson of the selection committee, said: "After holding a series of meetings and reviewing 42 eligible works, in The first stage, 15 films were selected to review, and finally, with multiple reviews, three films were selected as final candidates for the upcoming Oscars nominations list."
