According to the PR department of Farabi Cinema Foundation (FCF), in the meeting that took place on Tuesday evening February 17th, 2022 at Farabi Cinema Foundation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, focused on internationalization, expansion of global interactions in the field of cinema and suitable promotion and marketing of cinematic works in like-minded countries, especially films with the theme of the Islamic Revolution and Holy Defense.
Amir-Abdollahian also pointed out the need to create an adequate and sustainable mechanism for joint cooperation with the Iranian cinema. He instructed the Center for Public Diplomacy to propose and execute this mechanism with the participation of Farabi Cinema Foundation and in the form of a specialized working group in this ministry as soon as possible.
The Foreign Minister also emphasised on the high potential of cinema in cultural diplomacy and said that the Iranian cinema has very good capacities for cultural diplomacy.
In this meeting, the Managing Director of FCF, Dr. Seyed Mehdi Javadi, began introducing the structure and field of activity of Farabi Cinema Foundation as a national cinema institution and pointed out the long history of this foundation in the international arena. Moreover, both sides discussed ways and potential fields of cooperation to expand the presence of Iranian cinema in the international arena with the help of the MFA.
It is worth mentioning that at the end of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the accompanying delegation sat down to watch the movie "The Situation of Mehdi", one of the best works of the 40th Fajr Film Festival, directed by Hadi Hejazifar and produced by Habibaullah Valinejad.
