According to the PR department of Farabi Cinema Foundation, referring to the latest situation regarding the presence of the Iranian Cinema Umbrella in the European Film Market of the 72nd Berlin Film Festival, Raed Faridzadeh said: This year, assuming that the situation of the pandemic had improved, it was scheduled for the Iranian Cinema Umbrella to take part in Berlin’s European Film Market in a physical format after 2 years. However, due to the rapid spread of the Omicron COVID-19 variant in Europe and the restrictions imposed by the German government, it is probable that the film market will be postponed or held under the same circumstances as previous years. Nevertheless, they haven’t made any official announcement in this regard and due to the rapid expansion of the new variant across Europe we shall all wait for German authorities to make an official decision.
Announcing the readiness of the international department of Farabi Cinema Foundation to participate in the virtual market of the 72nd Berlin International Film Festival, Faridzadeh also added: for the past two years, we have been able to facilitate the participation of the Iranian cinema in the virtual markets held by European festivals, and likewise, all active sections of our cinema will be able to take part under the Iranian Cinema Umbrella this year.
According to Raed Faridzadeh, this year, 9 organizations, institutions, companies will take part under the Iranian Cinema Umbrella to promote the Iranian Cinema.
It is worth mentioning that the 72nd Berlin Film Festival will be held from February 10 to 20, 2022 in Berlin, Germany.
