Farabi Cinema Foundation takes part in the restoration of produced classics and the protection of Iranian works

In collaboration of the Iranian National Film Archive of Iran, Farabi Cinema Foundation has been involved in the reform and restoration of some of the most outstanding films of Iranian Cinema from 2014 until 2020. 

  

According to the PR department of the Farabi Cinema Foundation, the process of reforming and restoring Iranian Cinema classics as a mean to protect and preserve the Iranian cinematic heritage, as well as the presence and cultural presentation of the works in domestic and international festivals has begun recently and has been very well-received by cinema enthusiasts. .

In order to protect and  conserve iranian films, in the framework of the scheme of preserving the national heritage of Iranian cinema and enriching the video library and archive of the foundation, prominent films from the sixties, seventies and eighties were reformed and restored.

According to this report, in 2014 and 2015, the films "Cow" by Dariush Mehrjui and "Close-up" directed by Abbas Kiarostami were restored by the National Film Archive of Iran and the "Pishgaman Arya" laboratory, and this was the start of a new path for studios such as Roshna, National Film Archive of  Iran, Fam, Silver Fam and  the Laboratory of IRIB. 

With the advancement of digital technologies and the technical knowledge of experts, valuable audio-visual works of Iran are being revived and the process of reconstruction and restoration of a number of other films in the history of Iranian cinema continues, and the recording of these works is a valuable document of Iranian culture for the future.

It is worth mentioning that during these years, the international department of Farabi Cinema Foundation has also launched cultural and commercial offerings of restored films, which has led to the sale and screening of some of these works at cultural events and Embassies in Japan, USA, Australia, Taiwan. , France, Bangladesh, Turkey, China and Switzerland.

For the past 6 years, the following films have been successfully restored, from which  the cost of restoration of 44 films has been fully covered by Farabi Cinema Foundation.
