Over 40 past years Iranian films have always been presented to the Academy of Motion Pictures for consideration and getting the possible nomination in the International Feature Film category through Farabi Cinema Foundation approved by the Academy as the main national film organization. • The process for selecting Iranian selection committee members is usually set to begin soon after the newly published rules for the Academy Awards. Farabi Cinema Foundation as the main and the major national film organization in Iran in close cooperation with KHANEH CINEMA, the largest guild organization for Iranian filmmakers make a list of eligible cineastes together. After necessary consultation and the negotiations they come to a list of usually 9 (including the chair person) of Iranian professionals in the field of cinema.
• The selection committee influences which Iranian films are considered for official submission to the Academy.

• FARABI CINEMA FOUNDATION/KHANEH CINEMA: The cinematic associations responsible for proposing committee members.

• Selection Committee Members:
  • Should be individuals not involved in the production or distribution of eligible films.
  • Must have no professional relationship with any film under official selection consideration.

FILM SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

• Registration: The distributor or official film representative may officially register the film title with the Iranian Distribution Association and Cinema Organization of Iran.
• Approval & Viewing: The film will be reviewed after obtaining the necessary approvals from the relevant organizations.
• Compliance: Films should be compatible with the Academy's rules and regulations (Full Award Rules for the 98th Academy Awards) and scheduled for public theatrical release on the specified dates.
• Shortlist & Final Decision: A shortlist will be discussed and a final film will be chosen by the designated authorities (as publicly disclosed).
• Notification: If selected, the international distributor will be informed to begin the process related to Oscar submission and to provide the required materials before the deadline.
• Screening Schedule: Producers or distributors should register for the screening schedule according to the announced dates if they have not publicly released yet.
