Born in 1971 in Tehran, Niki Karimi has been nominee for the best actress award at the Iranian Fajr Film Festival over 10 times.
Karimi is the winner of the best actress award at the Fajr Film Festival in 2002 for ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST (THE INSANE FLEW AWAY) and THE FIFTH REACTION, and nominated five times for the best actress award by the Iranian Actors Society, out of which she once won the title for TWO WOMEN in 1999.
Among Karimi's international credits are: Winner of the best actress award for SARA at San Sebastian Film Festival in 1995; Winner of the best actress award for SARA at Nantes Film Festival in 1995; Winner of the best actress award for TWO WOMEN at Taormina Film Festival in 1999; Winner of the best actress award for THE HIDDEN HALF at the Cairo Film Festival in 2001; Winner of the Best Documentary Film Prize in Rain Documentary Film Festival in 2002 for TO HAVE OR NOT TO HAVE. Niki Karimi has served as a jury member in Thessaloniki, Dubai, Rennes, Middle East and Damascus Film Festivals. Premiered in Cannes in Un Certain Regard, her debut feature as a director, ONE NIGHT, was represented in 59 film festivals. Her THE FINAL WHISTLE was screened and awarded in such prestigious film festivals as Edinburgh, Mannheim, etc.

It is not for promoting some slogans, but for depicting the problems in a society in crisis; a society inflicted by international embargo. It is all about the social dilemmas making the family bonds vulnerable.
