In 1990, I was in the process of making a documentary film about saffron cultivation and I wanted to portray the agricultural stages of growing saffron in Khorasan province. During filming, to make the necessary arrangements for each sequence, I had some demands and needs that I insisted on. However, despite my persistence, saffron farmers refused to cooperate, leading to the temporary postponement of filming. The issue was eventually settled and the film was finally made. In the process, I learned that our disputes were related to my urban perspective and their conservative standpoint. Our differences were so impacting, that I was unable to forget them until I wrote and made this film.
